Through the Cadac Outdoor Cooking Academy, a joint venture with Wickedfood, our braai master has been teaching people the fine art of cooking on an open fire on Cadac kettlebraais and gas barbecues for the last 16 years. As Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School is located on a working farm we have space to spread out and is therefore the ideal venue for outdoor cooking.

Menu options

We offer a very unique cooking experience. We supply a basket of ingredients and recipe cards, and each group comes up with a menu and prepares it, with the help of our staff. All ingredients are locally sourced, either from Wickedfood Earth itself, or from surrounding farms. Then each group prepares 6 dishes:

  • Starter snack
  • Meat – see below under meat basket choices / core ingredient, for different options (for an additional meat dish – ±300g Beef steak R70pp or Lamb chops R80pp);
  • Starch – pap, mealie bread or potatoes;
  • Cooked vegetable – onion and tomato sauce, chakalaka, or seasonal vegetable;
  • Salad;
  • Dessert.

Meat basket choices

(Please note the whole group must have the same meat choice):

  1. The perfect braaied chicken - (up to 4 hours, R495pp ex VAT – Halaal friendly). Spice it up – peri-peri, tandoori, or a favourite family recipe. We show you how to roast the chicken in a kettlebraai, with a delicious smoky flavour. Core ingredient – ¼ chicken per person.
  2. Chicken Potjie - (up to 4 hours, R495pp ex VAT – with chicken Halaal friendly). Layers of chicken, and vegetables, slow cooked for maximum flavour in a potjie. Work with our staff or use a favourite family winning recipe. Core ingredient – ±2 chicken thighs pp.
  3. Beef or/and lamb(up to 4 hours. beef steaks R550pp, or Lamb chops R560pp, or half and half R560pp all ex VAT – Please note we cannot source Halaal beef or lamb). South Africa’s favourite braai meats. Core ingredient choice – ±300g beef steak or ±300g lamb chops pp, or ±150g steak and ±150g lamb. Want to add ±150g boerewors at R20 pp.
  4. Classic mixed grill - (up to 4 hours R570pp ex VAT – Please note the prego steaks and boerewors are not Halaal). Spice it up – garden herbs, peri-peri, or a favourite family recipe. We supply 3 cuts of meat per student, they spice and braai. ±450g meat pp, Core ingredients –  ±150g chicken, ±150g prego steak and ±150g boerewors per person.

Programme

What is included:

  • Teas and coffees, as well as rusks on arrival (other eats by prior arrangement);
  • Extensive notes and recipes;
  • All ingredients as outlined above;
  • An apron to wear while cooking;
  • Cooking class and meal at the end;

We are not licensed (by prior arrangement we can order in drinks, see applicable surcharges below).

Please note we have a wide variety of products available as prizes, including

farm-made preserve baskets and cured meats.
