Hi all

This month we have 3 exciting weekend events on offer:

Spring is here:

  • We are starting to harvest the first of the spring crops – asparagus, broad beans, peas, Swiss chard and green garlic.
  • All our fruit trees are in flower and barring a late frost, it looks like our fruit season will be starting a good month to 6 weeks earlier than usual;
  • We have started planting our Country Cooking School summer food gardens with lots of different leafy greens, beans, and a lot more – see below.

For all of you who want to start your own food gardens, we will be running a full day Food Garden Workshop on Sunday 16 September. More …

Sunday Lunches

It’s been a year since we launched our Sunday mezze country lunches, at Wickedfood Earth Farm Country Cooking School. An interesting journey interacting with over 200 of our clients at 12 lunches, and sharing our passion regarding the delicious flavours of our antibiotic and growth hormone-free, veld-raised meat, and seasonal farm-grown produce. Along the way, we were invited to become a member of Slow Food Chefs’ Alliance, cooks and chefs who “…. share a commitment to protecting agricultural biodiversity and to safeguarding gastronomic knowledge and local cultures ….”.

Using the very best locally-grown, seasonal produce, our country cooking school team, builds a mezze menu around these ingredients, to produce a selection of ±20 generous mezze dishes to share, including freshly baked farm bread, award winning artisan cured meats and pâtés, farm made pickles and dips, a hot meat dish, with side seasonal vegetables, and a  dessert.

In recognition of this milestone, Wickedfood Earth Farm Country Cooking School will be hosting 2 mezze country lunches, on Sunday 9 and 23 September, at the same price as our first lunch, R250pp. And all confirmed bookings received before this Friday will receive a R100 gift voucher to spend in our shop (booking essential).
